PRECISTA CZECH AIR FORCE - PRS-9
If you've been following Time Factors watches since the beginning, this one will be familiar to you. It first hit the drawing board in 2003 but techical problems delayed it for so long it was put back on the shelf until 2009, when the design and revised specification were given to another company, who overcame the original difficulties and produced what is a superb watch. At least one manufacturer boasts that it (only) takes a year to make their watches ;-).
It would have been easy enough to make the watch without the rotating bezel with pointer under the crystal but this is such an important part of the watch that I wasn't prepared to omit this important feature. The watches to which the PRS-9 pay homage had little or no water resistance, arguably because if you need water resistance in an aircraft, your watch is the least of your worries. Because the crystal rotates with the bezel, it was difficult to achieve any water resistance at all and the fact that the PRS-9 is water resistant to 30 metres is no small design achievement.
MOVEMENT
The PRS-9 is fitted with a new old stock AS1130 movement, one of the calibres popularly known as a "Wehrmacht" movement. Swiss made with 17 jewels, running at 18,000 BPH and with a power reserve of 41 hours. All movements have been stripped, cleaned, inspected, oiled and regulated in 2012.
STRAP
The strap supplied with the PRS-9 is a custom strap made in a style contemporary with those which would have been fitted in 1938. The original straps would have been cut-edge thick leather but the strap on the PRS-9 has been made from soft glove leather supplied by Pittards tannery in Somerset, England. Pittards was founded in 1826, you can read more of their history here . A roller buckle is fitted, as is a fixed metal keeper plus a floating leather keeper and screwed "rivets". All steel hardware has been bronzed (hardware on the original straps would have been painted).

This was one of the more popular of the Precista military re-editions and is now available again due to overwhelming demand. This model was issued from at least 1989 until 1993 with the ordnance numbers 6645-99, 757-3314. The original had a mineral crystal and was fitted with the ISA 1198 single jewel quartz movement. In keeping with my policy of updating the specification, the PRS-18Q is fitted with a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the underside and a Ronda 715Li 5 jewel quartz movement with a 10 year battery life, the automatic is fitted with the Miyota (Citizen) 24 jewel automatic movement with hacking seconds and hand winding capability, calibre 9015. This watch is made in Germany.

PRECISTA "ITALIAN" FULL-LUME DIAL - PRS-20
This is the fully luminous dial edition of the Precista "Italian". Although only 50 pieces are currently available, this is not a limited edition and it is planned to make more in the future.
The watch has a wonderfully large 37.4mm visible dial, which is of two-layer sandwich construction with Super Luminova C3 coating and the black under-dial showing through the numbers and indices cut-outs. The domed sapphire crystal varies in thickness from 1.5mm to 2.9mm and has anti-relective coating to the underside. The diamond-shape crown measures 5mm high by 8mm across and is signed with the Precista "P". The hands are blued steel with Super Luminova filling.

PRECISTA 300 metre Automatic Diver
The Precista 300 follows the tradition of paying homage to military and military-style wristwatches of the past, in this case it follows and improves on the specification of British Ministry of Defence Standard 66-4, Part 1 Issue 2. This revision is dated 1 January 1971.
This is arguably the most popular military dive watch today and good examples are keenly sought and command a high price.
This edition bearing the Precista name has been faithfully manufactured to the original specification, improving on it where appropriate. The most significant improvement is the addition of an anti-magnetic movement cover, movement holder and soft iron dial giving the watch anti-magnetic resistance to 80,000 A/m (Amp metres), the same as modern day IWC and Sinn watches. This has increased the thickness of the watch by 3mm over the original.
Case
Solid stainless steel case with brushed steel sides, polished top and back. Unidirectional bezel with luminous numbers in the bezel insert sealed with hardened acrylic. Screw back and screw down crown; the crown assembly is identical to that employed in the "Dreadnought" and has been tested to 2000 metres. Domed acrylic crystal in keeping with the original design. The dial is soft iron anti-magnetic and the polished steel sword hands are filled with Super Luminova, as are the indices.
Each watch has its own unique serial number, which also identifies the date of manufacture, engraved on the case back.
Dimensions
40mm diameter across the bezel and 46.6mm to the tip of the signed crown. 47mm lug tip to lug tip and 14.3mm thick to the top of the domed crystal. Lug spacing is 20mm and the watch head without strap weighs 90 grammes.

PRECISTA PRS-3 LE 300 metre Automatic Diver
Many of you will remember the Broadarrow PRS-3 first launched in 2003 and will also remember that following a legal dispute over the name "Broadarrow" (or "Broad Arrow"), the PRS-3 had to be discontinued. Many customers have asked for the PRS-3 to be reintroduced and I am happy to announce that it's back, bigger and better!
This is no simple reintroduction, the watch has been completely redesigned from scratch, as the drawings below show. Bigger, at 42mm; better bezel and thicker sapphire crystal; better construction with a screw-in crown tube, improved crown assembly, metal movement ring and finally, a quality solid link steel bracelet with perfectly fitting solid end-pieces.
The regular version of the PRS-3 will have a black dial with white framed plongeur hands and a regular elapsed time bezel insert but to launch the new PRS-3, a limited edition of four different colours with a combined countdown/12 hour bezel insert and supplied with a PU strap to match the colour of the dial. Each colour is produced in 50 numbered pieces.

PRECISTA PRS-50-B
Following the success and popularity of the Precista PRS-50 many customers asked for a different version with a domed acrylic crystal, closer to the specification of the watches manufactured more than 50 years ago. The PRS-50-B attempts, and I believe succeeds, to be that watch. The Precista homages do not pretend to be original but they do have the look and feel of the originals, almost always with superior specification, construction and materials.
The PRS-50-B has a 26mm visible dial with Super Luminova filled applied pennant indices. The domed acrylic crystal is 4.13mm thick and can be retro-fitted to the original PRS-50 without the need for modification, the sapphire from the PRS-50 will not fit the PRS-50-B because of the height of the hands. The domed crown measures 4.5mm high by 6mm diameter. The hands are faceted polished silver with Super Luminova filling. The bezel insert is flat acrylic and the bezel markers are luminous.
The movement is a new old stock AS2063, a later and higher beat version of the AS1361 originally fitted to the Lip model manufactured between 1956-60. All the movements have been fully serviced and regulated.
The manufacturing drawing for the case and movement detail is identical to the PRS-50 shown further down this page, the only differences are the detail for the domed acrylic crystal on this version.

PRECISTA PRS-10
This is the second PRS-10 model to be produced by Time Factors, the first was under the name "Broadarrow"in the style of the original military-issue Precista G10 from the early 1980s. The original G10s of the time had minimal water resistance, which is a nonsense for a military watch. This new Precista has a water resistance rating of 100 metres
The improvements over the original G10s are:

PRECISTA PRS-5
This is the second PRS-5 model to be produced by Time Factors, the first was under the name "Broadarrow"in the style of the Hamilton military chronograph and fitted with the Poljot 3133 movement. Following restrictions on the use of the name "Broadarrow", the PRS-5 lives again as a "Precista" and is now fitted with the Seagull ST-19 chronograph movement.
The Seagull factory has been manufacturing movements since 1955 and have long been the favourite movements for replica watches. The ST-19 is a 19 jewel column-wheel chronograph, allegedly identical to the Venus 175 movement and made on the same machinery, which the Chinese acquired when the Venus 175 went out of production. Others claim that the Seagull was simply reverse-engineered from the Venus and the argument continues over which story is correct:
either way, the fact remains that the design retains all durability of the original Venus.
The PRS-5 has a 31mm visible dial with Super Luminova "dot" hour markers and also a luminous 6 & 12. The crystal is a hi-dome acrylic crystal, 3.4mm high. The semi-recessed signed crown measures 4.0mm high by 7mm diameter. The hands are painted white with Super Luminova filling. The watch is water resistant to 50 metres, is fitted with a screw back and has 20mm drilled lugs.

PRECISTA 89 100 metre CHRONOGRAPH - PRS-17-C
I would have loved to make this watch with the Lemania 5100 chronograph movement but sadly, it is no longer available. In order to get the "look" of a Lemania powered chronograph, the high quality 27 jewel ETA quartz chronograph movement has been used with the familiar aeroplane tipped minute recorder hand. This movement is used in Chase-Durer, Revue-Thommen and Tag-Heuer watches costing more than £1000.

PRECISTA "Fat Arrow" - PRS-53
This is the first of a planned range of watches in the military style bearing the name "Precista". In the style of the highly collectible military watch which had the distinctive "Fat Arrow" dial in 1953 only.
Case
Brushed stainless steel case with a polished screw back and fixed bars. Acrylic crystal and black dial with Superluminova markers. Water resistant to 50 metres/165 feet. The watch is not fitted with a screw down crown.

If you have been following the Forum, you will have seen occasional requests for a military style watch with the luminous tritium glass vials. It's no secret that these are manufactured by MB-Microtec in Switzerland and it's no secret that they won't sell the tubes to anyone else, only manufacture "on behalf of". I've had a few made with "Precista" dials, which whilst not unique, is different and the price is good. Available with choice of Rhino or NATO strap.
